Planting
Choose full sun and soil that drains freely. The species suits meadow planting or naturalised areas where spreading growth is welcome; a named cultivar may be easier to accommodate in a border.
Care
Remove faded flowers to encourage more blooms and reduce seedlings. Divide spreading clumps when they outgrow their space.
Before planting: It can spread vigorously. Wear gloves to avoid skin irritation, and consider its toxicity to pets when choosing a site.
