Planting
Choose sun or partial shade, with afternoon shade in hot climates. Plant in moisture-retentive soil; heavy clay and the edges of ponds or streams can suit it.
Care
Keep the soil moist through dry weather. Cut old growth to the ground in late winter before new shoots appear, and divide established clumps when needed.
Before planting: It is unsuitable for a position where the soil is regularly allowed to dry out.
