Planting
Choose full sun with moist, well-drained soil. Plant in groups within a perennial border or rock garden, where the flower spikes can rise above lower-growing neighbours.
Care
After the main flowering finishes, cut the stems down to the basal leaves. This tidies the clump and can encourage a second flowering in autumn.
Before planting: Persistently wet soil, especially in winter, can cause root rot.
