Planting
Plant in sun or partial shade with fertile soil that stays moist. A rain garden or streamside border suits it; very shaded positions can make the stems lean.
Care
Mulch to conserve moisture, and pinch the stem tips in spring for bushier growth. Support stems if they flop in a shaded position.
Before planting: Drying soil can encourage mildew; it is a poor fit for a dry border.
