Planting
Choose sun or partial shade with neutral soil that drains freely. Allow room for the mature rosette and flower stems in a dry border, coastal garden or slope planting.
Care
Established plants tolerate drought and poor soil. Increase a planting by division, root cuttings or seed, and maintain free drainage around the roots to limit leaf disease.
Before planting: The sharply pointed leaves need space away from narrow paths and places where people brush past.
