Planting
Choose partial or full shade and average soil that remains moderately moist to wet. It does best with some sunlight and suits the back of a shaded border.
Care
Divide while dormant in spring or autumn if the clump needs splitting. Watch young growth for slugs and snails, which can damage the plant.
Before planting: The blue-black berries are poisonous to people if swallowed.
