Planting
Use full sun for the strongest flowering and fruiting. This shrub tolerates damp ground and occasional flooding, making it useful in a rain garden, informal hedge or shrub group.
Care
Remove root suckers if you want to keep one defined shrub. Alternatively, allow it to form a colony where a spreading screen is useful.
Before planting: Deer can damage the plant; it is not a reliable choice where browsing pressure is high.
