Planting
Choose full sun and moist, well-drained sandy or loamy soil. Avoid overly rich soil, and place other perennials nearby to help support stems that become floppy.
Care
Remove faded flowers to encourage further bloom. Cut back flower spikes in autumn and clear dead foliage in spring; compact cultivars are easier to fit into smaller borders.
Before planting: Poor drainage can lead to root rot.
