Planting
Choose partial sun or full sun and acidic to neutral soil that drains freely. Dry or rocky ground with low to moderate fertility suits it; avoid heavy, wet clay.
Care
Avoid heavy feeding, which can make the stems leggy. Plants are often short-lived, lasting two or three seasons, but can reseed nearby; they are also easily raised from seed.
Before planting: Waterlogged soil, especially in winter, can cause root rot.
