Measurements are a starting point for a site visit.

Describe the result, then the constraints

Tell the professional what the garden should do for you: a place to sit, easier upkeep, a new path, more planting or a clear route to the shed. Distinguish a wish from something that must be included.

Add approximate dimensions and photographs. A rectangular area estimate is a starting point; it does not establish levels, drainage, foundation design or the quantity of material to order.

Include the route and the things that stay

Describe gates, steps, turns, parking and the path from delivery point to work area. Include the narrowest clear opening rather than only the first gate. Ask the professional to confirm the movement method on site.

List plants, surfaces and structures to retain and protect. Ask who handles waste and whether design, preparation, installation and ongoing care are separate services.

Send the same brief to each business

The tool creates a message you can copy or print. Add photographs when contacting your chosen professional. No photograph, account or address is required to use it.

Use the same starting brief for each proposal. Ask every company to list assumptions, exclusions and items requiring a site visit so the prices describe comparable work.
